So what?
Congratulations! If you found that you or your son/daughter relate to some or most of the symptoms described, you may have a gifted Dyslexic in your family.
They may have been diagnosed by professionals, who prefer to avoid the term 'Dyslexia' (which is often misunderstood as a big problem instead of a gift) with different labels:
- ADD/ADHD
- Auditory Sequential Processing Dysfunction
- Learning Disability (Reading-, Writing-, Spelling- Disability)
- Phonic- or Decoding Problems
- Eye-tracking difficulties
- Dyspraxia or Equilibrium faults
- Visual Processing Skills
- Lack of Phonological Awareness
- Gifted but Disabled
etc. etc.
Ronald Davis (himself dyslexic) says:
"Dyslexia is not a complexity. It is a compound of
simple factors which can be dealt with step-by-step. At
Dyslexia's root is a Natural ability, a Talent. The
Gift of Dyslexia is the Gift of Mastery."
